While we support the right of City of Hudsonville Facebook fans to express themselves openly, as a host we have the responsibility to keep the conversation fair and decent. We reserve the right to block fans and/or remove content that is inappropriate (obscene, profane, or hateful in nature), posts that attack or harass other community members or City representatives,  threats on any person or organization, spam or advertisements, copyrighted material, or false comments/claims about the City of Hudsonville.

Business Registration

There is NO cost to register your business with the City.

To register a business with the City, please fill out and submit our business registration form for processing. Once the form is submitted, it can take a few weeks for the registration to go through the approval process. Businesses will be mailed a registration certificate if the registration is approved or be emailed if the registration is denied for any reason (most denied registrations are due to the business not being located in the city limits).

There is NO cost to register your brick-and-mortar business with the City. Our business registration ordinance does not require home-based businesses (i.e. direct sales consultants, hairdressers) to register with the City. Emergency Services

If you have a medical, police or fire related emergency, dial 911 for immediate assistance.

Never touch a downed or dangling wire or anyone or anything in contact with it. Always assume a downed line is still energized. Report any downed power lines immediately by dialing 911.

Anytime you are altering an existing structure or building a new one you will need to contact the city about aquiring a building permit. Rental Registration

Yes, the city has a Rental Registration Ordinance stating that every owner of a rental unit must register with the city before renting out the property or within ten days of purchasing a preexisting rental unit.

A rental occupancy certificate is valid for two (2) years from the inspection date. For a property to pass it's rental inspection, the rental property must be in compliance with city maintenance codes. If the City becomes aware of property maintenance violations, the current certificate could be revoked.

Storm Damage & Leaves

NO, leaf drop-off is open to Hudsonville City Residents / Taxpayers only. ID will be checked at drop off location. For more information on leaf drop off, please call the Department of Public Works at 616-669-0200 ext. 424.

If you have storm debris, the property owner has 72 hours to gather storm-damaged limbs and branches, stack them in curb lawn areas and the city will come and dispose of them. Acceptable materials include storm damage debris only, limbs/branches must be a minimum of 1" and maximum of 4" in diameter and maximum of 4' in length. For questions on our storm clean-up policy, please contact the Department of Public Works at 616-669-0200 ext. 424.

The City has a general policy that they will pay to repair or replace a mailbox that has been physically struck by a City vehicle. The City will NOT pay for mailbox damage due to snow being thrown against the mailbox during snowplowing. Incidents must be reported to our office within 24 hours and a site visit to see the damage will be required. To report an incident, please contact the Department of Public Works at 616-669-0200.

Fires

The provisions of this chapter are not intended to prohibit small fires used soley for recreational purposes, such as barbecues or campfires, or highway flares or smudge pots, or for any fire within an incinerator which has been licensed or certified by a state or federal agency for approved use. Provided, however, a member of the fire department or police department may order or cause any such fire extinguished which, in this sole judgement, is hazardous or a nuisance to the general public or neighboring occupants or premises and the person, firm or corporation responsible for such fire shall immediately comply with such order.

There really aren't regiulations for a portable fire pit. As long as you follow the section above regarding safety and you are aware of where the smoke goes. For reference, accessory structures are required to be 4' from the property line and 10' from the house.
