The official terminology is a woonerf, a term from the Netherlands which mean “shared” or “living” street that prioritizes the pedestrian experience.
The City of Hudsonville has extended Harvey Street to the east to intersect with Terra Square and has created a space that encourages walkability and community. The western section of Harvey Street was also converted to the walkable, pedestrian-friendly street.
Harvey Street now features a pedestrian only section hung with string lights, an interactive water feature (splash pad), a pocket park, and fun spots to gather with family and friends.
