Hudsonville City Clerk Completes of the Michigan Professional Municipal Clerk Certification Program
Hudsonville, Michigan – The City of Hudsonville’s Clerk, Jill Gruppen, received the Michigan Professional Municipal Clerk certification through the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks (MAMC).
Gruppen completed 120 hours of comprehensive training over three years, equipping her with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for effective municipal governance.
The three-year curriculum included record retention, FOIA requests and requirements, effective budgeting, Bureau of Elections information, time management, among other professional development topics.
The City of Hudsonville recognizes Jill’s dedication and commitment to the Hudsonville community, celebrating her diligence in completing the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks certification program. This certification not only broadens her career opportunities, but also promotes transparency and accountability in daily operations and public meetings.
“Hudsonville is privileged to have Jill Gruppen as the City Clerk. Hudsonville is noted for having one of the best run voting processes in the county and state with flawless integrity and efficiency,” says Mayor Mark Northrup. “Jill has taken on several roles beyond the city by being President of the Ottawa County Clerks Association in 2023. She’s a true professional that continues to seek to be better as evidenced by her recent completion of 120 hours of training to obtain her Professional Municipal Clerk Association certificate through the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks. Hudsonville is fortunate to have professionals such as Jill serving the community.”

Through the MAMC’s training program, municipal clerks also have the opportunity to network with their peers, share knowledge, exchange best practices, and collaborate with one another.
“The MACM certificate will help me beyond strengthening administrative tasks,” says Gruppen. “I’ve developed new knowledge I’m excited to use to benefit the community, and have a new network of peers, who I can collaborate with and learn from for years to come.”
